January is off to a great start! We’re enjoying the days with nice weather by playing outside, going to the zoo and park…and then trying to find fun things to do indoors on the cooler, rainy days. We celebrated my dad’s birthday last weekend. Today we went to the eye doctor. Anna Claire and Charlie are both a little farsighted but it is not bad enough to require glasses. Anna Claire has an astigmatism but not too bad. We’ll go back in a year or two. (Whew! FYI: 2 year olds don’t like having their eyes dilated.)

p.s. – 1. I haven’t forgotten about Christmas/December updates….they are coming. 2. Anna Claire and Charlie are POTTY TRAINED!! Wahoo!!

Thanksgiving 2011

This year Justin, Rebekah, and Gracie couldn’t make it home for Thanksgiving. Last year my parents went to Texas with them, the year before Justin’s mom visited with them in Texas, and the year before they were just married and on a cruise. So, we were so excited to be able to travel to NJ to visit. Let me back up…we were so excited to visit with them in NJ…not travel to NJ. It took us FIFTEEN HOURS to get there. Everyone in America was traveling on I-95 with us. Anyways, enough of that. The kids were great. They read books, colored, sang songs, watched movies, ate, napped, played with toys and stuffed animals, and more! We had a GREAT thanksgiving meal.

We played games by the fire. We even celebrated Christmas with them. Justin will be deployed very soon so Bekah and Gracie will be heading down here for a few weeks. That’s why we celebrated early. We went for the first time and cut down a tree. It was so fun! One day we went to see Uncle Justin’s plane. So fun! We had a great time.(Oh, and the trip back was only 11 hours. )

SC State Fair

In October we went to the fair. We ate yummy food, watched some dancers, visited all the animals (the little ducks sliding in the water were their favorite!), saw the sand sculpture, and even rode the skyline across the fair. I’m sure the kiddos will be really eager to ride the rides next year.

Halloween 2011

Earlier this Fall we took at trip to the pumpkin patch with some of our friends. Aren’t these six kiddos absolutely precious?

Then one night we made a trip to Boo at the Zoo with the Perkins. Those cute lady bugs are about to welcome their baby brother to the world sometime in the next few weeks. We can’t wait to meet him!

Next we went to trunk or treat at our church. Cute pirates!

On Halloween day we had breakfast with some friends (orange pancakes…Thanks Mrs. Cortney), carved our pumpkin with Daddy and went trick or treating with our friends.

Our little Tinkerbell and Pirate had such a fun time!

We started this blog almost 3 years ago and over that time I think we’ve only posted one post without pictures. Because of this we have pretty much used up all the ‘free’ space. So…we’ve got to buy more…but I think it’s worth it because I love keeping this record for the kids to see in the future.

Since you’ve heard from us last, we had a great Halloween, Thanksgiving, and many days in between those. We’ve also had a great start to the Christmas season. I can’t wait to post about it all!

We’ve had some pretty nice weather days around here and spent those playing at the park and playing outside at our house.

Here are some silly pictures of the kiddos making fish faces last week before preschool. (They like for us to take pictures of them on our phones and then let them see their pictures. If you only knew how many pictures we have taken on our phones…)

Time Change

For the most part, our kiddos adjusted pretty well to the time change. (Charlie is still my early bird!) However, I really don’t like that it gets dark at 5:30. We were on our way to church last night in the dark! Anyways, we are enjoying the warmer weather we’ve had the past couple days. We’re going to be in NJ next week and I’ve heard it’s quite chilly there. Here are some cute pictures I snapped with my phone while Anna Claire and Charlie were swinging the other day. They love to “go high!”

I grabbed a box of 2 slinkies in the dollar store the other day. They’ve had so much fun playing with these! (Can you tell it was a little chilly that day? We don’t enjoy being cold. ) Stay tuned for SO many more updates…I’ve got a lot of bloggin’ to do.

First Dentist Visit

Wednesday morning, Anna Claire, Charlie, and Mommy went to the dentist. [Yes...I still see my pediatric dentist. Don't judge. You would stay with him too if you could. ] We had talked about it for several days so they would know what to expect. They were AWESOME! They watched me get my teeth cleaned, then they each climbed in the chair (Charlie first…AC was a little more cautious at first) and let Mrs. Lori clean their teeth.

Then they let her brush fluoride on them.

Last they let Dr. Marsh check their teeth.

Because they did so well they got to pick out a prize. I was SO proud of them! All three of us had great visits and our teeth looked perfect! I love going to the dentist and I hope they will continue to like going to him.

Tub Fun

They were quietly and calmly coloring in the tub tonight…

Then she made a move and drew on her brother…

He decided to get her back…

They just laughed and laughed about this and continued coloring the tub.

Preschool Fall Festival

Tonight we went to Anna Claire’s and Charlie’s preschool for their Fall Festival. They got their faces painted, picked out two books from the book fair thanks to Granny and Nana, got their fingerprint cards made by the police officers, ate a yummy spaghetti dinner, each class performed some songs for us, then we got to visit their classroom to see some crafts they made and where they get to play and learn each day they go. I’m going to try to upload the video to YouTube soon but in the meantime, here are some pictures from the evening.

NICU Visit #3

Each Fall since the kiddos left the NICU we have taken them back to visit. There were so many nurses and doctors that took care of our little ones it would be impossible to see them all and say thanks. However, we always try to make sure their primary neonatologist, nurse practitioner, and nurse are there. I can only imagine if this were my career (which it will never be!) that it would be so encouraging to see the teeny tiny babies who were once on CPAP, PICC lines, biliblankets, feeding tubes, fighting for life in the beginning….walk in and say hi. Well that’s just what we did. Anna Claire was pretty social. Charlie was shy. I think the only thing he talked about was that he was going to be a pirate for halloween. I promise you that every day I walked this hall on the 5th floor at Palmetto Health Richland from March 7, 2009 to May 11, 2009 I wondered if I would ever see this: Yeah, God is pretty awesome…isn’t He?
