One Year Stats

Anna Claire and Charlie celebrated their one year birthdays last Sunday.  (TONS of pictures are coming soon!)  Tuesday we took them to the doctor for their one year checkups (and shots).  I think I say this after every checkup, but I am not going to worry about their sizes.  Here are the stats:  Charlie is 19 lbs 8oz and 27.5 inches.  (To be honest, I think Charlie is pretty big and pretty close to other one year olds.  I was surprised his percentages weren’t higher. I guess at this age every pound makes a difference.)  This puts him in the 7th percentile in weight for boys and not on the chart for height.  However, the boy must be a genius because he’s got a big noggin…48cm which is the 90th percentile.  Anna Claire is 16lbs 5oz and 26 inches long.  That puts her….well…not on the charts.  No worries though. 🙂 Her head is 46cm which is the 75th percentile.  Even though they are small, they are doing great!  Eyes, ears, mouth, lungs, tummies, head, arms, legs…EVERYTHING looks great.  They are developing right along with what other 1 year olds are doing.  Here are a few things each of them is doing:

Anna Claire – she can say mama, dada, hi, bye bye, baby; she can shake her head no when she doesn’t want something or when we say no; she waves and points to things; she just learned to drink from a straw; she can’t walk but she can pull up and sit down on her own; she is wearing size 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers; she is a wonderful eater; she loves books, anything that lights up with music, Dora, and her baby (which she rocks side to side).

Charlie – he can say dada, mama, byebye and other babble; he can wave bye; he is SO close to walking because he cruises ALL over the house with his walker; he is wearing size 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers; he can eat a ton but is a little picky when it comes to the veggies; he loves his train, Dora, balls(which he picks up over his head and throws), his walker, and anything else Anna Claire is holding. 🙂

They both love outside, their bath (especially since we re-did their bathroom), playing under the kitchen table, their farm animals, singing songs with Mommy, and climbing on Daddy to eat his food. 🙂

The doctor said the next milestone we will look for is walking which they will hopefully do by their next checkup at 15 months.  Anna Claire told the doctor “hi” and “bye” and even waved.  Charlie gave him “five”. 🙂 We are super excited.  We feel so blessed that they are doing so well considering their condition at birth.
