Road Trip

Devin headed to Las Vegas for a work trip, so the kids and I hopped in the car and headed to Florida to visit the Brazells (they just moved there from NM…yay!). The first day was travel day. We got on the road about 10am. Y’all…I’m pretty sure my least favorite place to travel through in the US is Atlanta, Georgia(Sorry Cortney!)…and I’ve driven in Washington, DC and NYC! The traffic is just so crazy. It took us 4 hours to get from our house through ATL. Anyways, we finally made it to Alabama! AC and Charlie have been to SC, NC, VA, MD, PA, NJ, GA, FL, Bahamas(Freeport and Nassau), and Cozumel Mexico. So this was their first time in AL. We had to drive through Auburn to take a look around then we grabbed lunch in the car and finished our trip. IMG_2632IMG_2635We were so happy to pull in their driveway. The kids went straight upstairs to play! IMG_2638IMG_2639The next morning Jordan had his 18 month well visit so the big kids and I ate breakfast, climbed trees, played with bubbles and chalk, and then had a water balloon fight! Since they were already wet and in swim suits, we made our tie dye shirts. After lunch the kids baked brownies and had a tea party. After quiet time, we headed over to Destin to eat at Lulu’s. It was so good (even though the wait was too long!) and the kids had a blast playing in the sand while we waited. We ate lunch, played some more, then headed back to their house for the littles to rest. IMG_2661IMG_2668IMG_2670IMG_2675IMG_2680IMG_2681IMG_2684Before they got up from nap, Bekah and Justin headed out for a date! They got to go on a helicopter ride, eat dinner, do some shopping, and even get dessert! While they were gone, we mixed up some sugar cookies and decorated them, ate pizza, watch Descendants, then walked down to the bay to hide the rocks they painted. When we came back everyone had to help bathe Jordan. 😉 Then we played some more, read books, and went to bed. Two very exciting things stick out in my mind…Grace *really* learned how to swim today…it clicked! She was under the water and moving like a fish. 🙂 Charlie found some hermit crabs…4 to be exact. He was terribly sad when I told him we couldn’t keep them. So he and I took a walk down the beach to talk about it and calm down. Well, this was totally a God thing, we found a hermit crab habitat. Seriously! Hundreds of crabs. Charlie was so excited and he and the girls were exploring with their goggles. He got the 4 he found and returned them to their home. IMG_2722IMG_2723IMG_2725IMG_2727IMG_2728IMG_2729IMG_2730IMG_2731IMG_2734IMG_2736We went back to their house for lunch and rest time. After that the kids played inside and outside and Justin grilled burgers and hotdogs for dinner. Then we went out for ice cream. We walked back to the bay from their house and got to see a dolphin, flying fish, an egret, and watch the sun set. It was a great end of the day. IMG_2737IMG_2739IMG_2741IMG_2742IMG_2747IMG_2751IMG_2754IMG_2755IMG_2758The girls had a sleepover that night so Charlie slept with me. The next morning, bright and early, I had a bed full of little ones and I sure did love it! We ate breakfast, packed up, and hit the road. We had a wonderful visit! FullSizeRender 25We met Aunt Mel halfway because the same day we were leaving she was coming to visit. IMG_2765IMG_2768We were so happy to see Daddy when we got home. He had a great trip too!!
